I think it’s something Kingston was craving,” says Manic Breeze, 24. “I don’t see this being a short[-term] thing. I see myself playing this for years,” she adds later. “I want to be able to build a community of derby friends. It is a fiercely strong group of women, and I want to have us be more than a sports team.”

Derby Girls Lace Up Their Skates An article about the league’s first few months! A piece of history, covering the beginnings of the league and the search for a place to skate. Reading this brings back fond memories of our first practices skating together and getting ready for our first bout. ”I am extremely nervous about the bout. We aren’t used to skating in front of people and it is a really big thing to plan,” admits Little Orphan-Maker Annie.
