Twenty-three would-be Kingston Derby Girls strapped on their rollerskates for the first time (well, mostly for the first time) tonight and had their first practice on the way to becoming full-fledged Kingston Derby Girls. There was a flood of interest in joining KDG after the awesomeness that was Back to Cruel III, and we squeezed several extra people into the camp so we wouldn’t have to leave anyone out. We wish these new skaters the very best of luck at their practices — they may be challenged like they never have been before, but under the amazing tutelage of LaVallee of the Dolls, Box Punch, Banger Management, Mr. Kristi, Johnston, and a rotating cast of other derby girls, refs, and coaches, these women will be tearing up the track in no time. Watch for them next season — these are the future derby girls and they’re coming for you!
