We Have A New Charter Team – The Rebel Rebels!

WFTDA ApprenticeWe are excited to announce that KDG has a whole new WFTDA Apprentice Charter Team that includes skaters from other leagues surrounding the Kingston area. The Rebel Rebels have a fearless coach, VishousLee, who hails from California, but found herself in Watertown running all kinds of derby!  I can’t tell you who is on the team yet, as we are still in the midst of try-outs, and I also can’t show you our logo yet, as it is still being created, but I can tell you that it’s going to be a great season! We have 3 bouts lined up! First, we head Stateside to play Syracuse’s Assault City Roller Derby on July 9, and on the following weekend on July 16, we host the G Stars for our Mock Sanction Bout, and last but not least, we head to the Big Smoke for a re-match on August 27! We hope to see our fans cheering us on, either trackside or in spirit!

Derby Frontier Trans Awareness Week

The Canadian Derby Frontier site is hosting a Trans Awareness in Sports Week! That makes this a great time to remind all our fans of the Kingston Derby Girls’ gender policy.

If you’re a lady, you’re a lady. No questions asked.

Head on over to DerbyFrontier.com for a ton more info, from blog posts to interviews to first-hand thoughts from derby girls about body image, passive discrimination, gender labels, and more.

It’s WFTDA TIME!

Your Kingston Derby Girls have been accepted into the Women’s Flat-Track Derby Association as an apprentice league. The apprenticeship program is a stepping stone toward becoming a full member league in the biggest roller derby association in the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait to see what new opportunities will be heading our way in our fifth season!

Congratulations to US and to all the other new apprentice leagues in Canada and across the globe!
