News and Bout Info

Please excuse us while we change!

The KDG website is in the middle of an update, so if you happen to be looking up your favourite derby girl and find that her photo has gone missing or that the teams pages look a little messed up, please forgive us! We’re putting up all kinds of great new stuff, including brand new headshots, group photos, and bios, but the process is a little time-consuming and derby girls aren’t known for having a ton of spare time (we practice a lot). So please pardon any website inconsistencies or absences you catch while we get this update finished. You can always find the most important stuff, such as information about our season opener on May 4th or our bout schedule, as easily as ever.

Introducing: skater profiles

One of the most interesting things about roller derby is the diverse population of strong and amazing women the sport attracts. You’ve wanted to know more about the skaters of the Kingston Derby Girls for a long time, and now we have the answer! Introducing a new feature of our website: skater profiles! Check out the teams page and click through to learn more about the players on the Disloyalists, the Rogue Warriors, and the Skateful Dead.

The Kingston Derby Girls are astonishingly lucky and truly grateful to have such talented people working with us. Your new skater and team photos are brought to you by a crack team of Kingston artists: Daniel McCully of McCully Images photographed the Skateful Dead in the Mansion’s cellar, league photographer Papa Razzi (also known as Steve Koopman of Unveiled Photography) shot the Rogue Warriors at an abandoned warehouse, and Tim Forbes of Forbes Photography did the Disloyalist photos at Fort Henry. Many, many thanks to Marie Meeks at Lulu’s and friends for our amazing hair and makeup (who else would get up at six on a Sunday to be at Fort Henry?) and to the staff at the Mansion and Fort Henry, as well as the good people of Gananoque for not cleaning up their warehouse.

So good lookin’

The Kingston Derby Girls are thrilled to unveil their newly designed website! Thanks so much to Eric Akaoka of A Storied Design for all his hard work these past several weeks. We’re thrilled!
